WE RAN AWAY WITH THE CIRCUS
POSTED BY JFFCOMMS ON SEPT 15, 2019
Last month saw our first circus camp and it was great, we had a wonderful group of people working with us and it was magical. We also did our first production of The Last Fairy and The Black Crow Queen. As the sun set, well actually as I am saying that, there was no sun setting on the first night as there was a crazy storm but it only added to the dark tale (we have a storm on the sound track and that night and we didn’t need it!) It has been amazing for us to get such great feedback on the show and the camp, so thank you for anyone who wrote to us and shared your generous thoughts.
The lead up to the show and the camp was also great. We made an eco pledge to do our best! To not buy unnecessarily, to upcycle, recycle, borrow, re use, basically to not waste and be as creative as we could. So our costumes (bar 2) were all made from old curtains, sheets, duvet covers and sacking. It was a lesson in creativity and I am so very grateful for everyone who joined in with us and also agreed that we need to buy less and upcycle more. I want to hugely thank Refurnish in Crediton who did their very best to support us for the months leading up to the show. Also I want to thank everyone who worked with us, what an amazing team, without them we couldn’t have done it. We had aerialists, d.j’s, hoopers, trapeze artists, jugglers, acrobats, actors, stewards and a fantastic chef!
At present here at Jump, Fall, Fly we are beavering away on our next steps, which are all very exciting. We will keep you posted but just to say our heads are down and we are planning and spinning creative plates and we will see where it all lands.
There will be exciting times ahead, we know that much.
